May 26, 2009 - The first formal night

Here are Bob and Pam. They are really good friends of ours that live in Salt Lake City. We have bugged them for YEARS to go cruising with us and they finally gave in for this one. Bob wasn't all that trilled with the whole "tux" concept, but I think at the end of the night, all the guys had a really good time! Our favorite bar before dinner was the Cellar Master. It was a great wine bar that had these COOL wine machines.

They had two of these machines in this bar. One dispensing whites and the other, reds. It was a cool system. You bought a card like a debit card... minimum of $30 on the card and you would go to the machine and pick how big of a "pour" you wanted. The price reflected the size of glass of wine you wanted. There were many glasses available to try whatever you liked... from a taste, to an entire glass. All of them were spendy wines so it was nice to just have a taste of them. I spent a lot of money at the machines. :) The Cellar Master also had a full bar and an extensive wine list.
Here is everyone for formal night happy hour!

Here is our dining table... we had a table for 10. There aren't many on the ship, so if you have a large group, like we did, I had to go through the Special Services director with Celebrity to make sure we could all be seated together. I highly recommend BIG tables. Even if you don't know them. We have met friends for life at our large dining tables.

Dan and his boys all dressed up. This will probably be thee only occassion that this happens, so we were determined that they wore tuxes. They were pretty good sports.

Minda and I met online on the Cruise Critic months and months before the cruise. We became really good MSN buddies and talked daily. I was SO excited to finally meet her face to face. I always wonder if I'm going to hit it off like you hope... it was love at first sight! :D I adore her! She is such a terrific person. She was incredible with Alex and it seemed the 3 of us had been friends forever! Her and her husband Steve, live in England. All of us had such a great time for our 12 days together. I miss her very much!

Our great cruising buddies, Debbie and Rich.
